Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) Extends Deadline for Filing of Annual Returns

As part of efforts by the Lagos State Government to mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service has extended for two months, the deadline for Filing of Annual Tax Returns from 1st April to 31st May, 2020 for Individual taxpayers including self-employed persons.

You will recall that the State Government recently ordered closure of some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), including the Lagos State Internal Revenue Service in the state for an initial period of 14 days. This measure was to curtail the spread of COVID-19.

Taxpayers are advised to access the Service’ eTax platform, contact care centre, as well as make enquires on the service website and other social media platform for filings and further information.

We applaud this move by the LIRS while we implore all taxpayers to explore these alternative means of filing tax returns and communicating with the tax authority.
